Hardcore Pawn Changes Format To Avoid Cancellation... For Now

In a shake up at TruTV, the network that carries Hardcore Pawn, the show gets renewed by the skin of its teeth. The network has changed its concept of what shows it wants to air in the future. Their vision now is to get rid of the fake and staged 'reality show' format from the past. Goodbye Lizard Lick Towing and South Beach Tow. Hardcore Pawns run is probably coming to an end soon as well.

TruTV did pick up a 13 episode backup order of the show for its ninth season. However, if you watched the first episode of the new season, you should have noticed something different. There was only one customer confrontation. It wasn't much of one either. Ashley pretended to get into a screaming match with a loud Spanish speaking customer. He ranted a little, she did her usual "not in my store" spiel and it was over. It lasted about three minutes.

The show appears to be heading in the direction of subjecting viewers to bad acting, crappy editing and horrible story lines. What do you expect with Richard Dominick behind the production. When you produce crap shows like Jerry Springer, The Steve Wilkos Show and Bait Car, it's to be expected.

And so it goes. Probably the last season of this show. I admit, it was fun in the beginning. Before Ashley had to have her mug in every shot. Is she even fatter now? And what's up with that hair? Then they brought in that horrendous 'cousin' Karen. That voice is like an icepick to the eardrum.

In the end, the Gold's get richer and could care less what happens in the future with the show. They will continue being the snobs that they are to the real customers who come in the shop. It's all about the Benjamins anyway, isn't it?

Another One Bites The Dust - Dennis Kaminer Latest Casualty At AJ&L

It's not easy being a long time, dedicated and loyal employee at American Jewelry & Loan. Joining the ranks with Joel "Big Joe" Shannon and Rich Pyle is Dennis Kaminer. You remember Dennis, the older bald guy with the white beard. Have you noticed you haven't seen him on any of the new seasons shows? That is because he no longer works there. Hmmm, another employee who is an expert in his field and worked at American jewelry & loan for years, now gone? Seems to be a pattern here doesn't it?

Dennis is an old veteran of the pawn industry. You don't just find a man of his knowledge walking down the street. When you can have a person of his knowledge and expertise, you keep him on your staff. We don't know the answer as to why Dennis is no longer employed at the shop. Speculation would seem he was tired of appearing on the show, yet not compensated for it. It's been reported that was the issue with "Big Joe" and Rich Pyle. The only difference with Dennis is there was no show scripted around the incident like the other former employees.

You remember the episode where Rich was fired, then rehired. Totally a script for ratings. However, as Rich's popularity increased and began to take the attention from the Golds, it was time to for him to go. Did Rich quit? Yes. Where there factors that made him quit? Absolutely. You don't just "quit" a job you have had for over twenty years and there not be an issue as to why.

So aren't you asking yourself the same question? Why would an employee like Dennis, who has worked there for years, just quit? Maybe the Gold's will address it in one of there fake, bad acting office meetings. I wouldn't count on it if I where you. Nothing on that show is real. Why start now?

Rich Pyle Quits American Jewelry & Loan and Hardcore Pawn

The following is an excerpt from the upcoming book, "The Brawn Behind The Pawn"

It's true, fan favorite Rich Pyle has quit working at American Jewelry & Loan. Better known as the pawn shop featured on the show Hardcore Pawn.

Rich was becoming very popular on the show. If you know anything about the Gold's, they don't like anyone becoming bigger than they are. Les has a very big ego. Seth is a power and control person just like his dad.

Ashley, well she doesn't even work for the shop. She only shows up during film weeks so she can collect her part of a paycheck from the production company.Oh and by the way, the production company is owned by Les Gold.

Getting back to Rich and why he was fired. Rich, along with Big Joe, was becoming a fan favorite. The fans would show up at the pawn shop and ask to meet the two of them before they would ask to meet the three members of the Gold family.

It really got out of hand after the episode "Rich vs Les" on the season five finale. Check out the video below:

This setup Rich's return for the beginning of season six. Of course, you have to remember this is all scripted and fake. At least the part about Rich getting fired is not true. However, with Rich becoming so popular and the emails that were received during the off season, Les didn't care for the focus being off of his family.

Another issue Rich got in some hot water for, was his putting up posters around the shop promoting his band Superlast. This made Les furious in that an employee used the shop to promote their outside interest. Being an employee for twenty five years, Rich thought it wouldn't be an issue. He found out the hard way it was.
